WDO / Termite Inspections

Pest Inspection Services in Central Iowa

Extensive WDO / Termite Inspections for Peace of Mind

Panoptic Inspections offers Wood-Destroying Insect (WDO/Termite) Inspections for $75 as an add-on service to a home inspection. A Wood-Destroying Insect inspection (often called “Pest Inspection” or “Termite Inspection”) evaluates the readily accessible areas of the property for visible evidence of termites and other wood-destroying insects. This service is performed at the same time as your home inspection and includes the applicable real-estate WDO inspection documentation. Wood-destroying insects can cause significant structural damage that may not be readily apparent during a normal property showing. Adding a WDO inspection provides an additional level of evaluation as part of your home-buying due diligence.

Note: WDO inspections are available as an add-on to a Panoptic home inspection. Standalone WDO inspections are not routinely offered.

Pest Damage to Home

Signs of a Termite Infestation

Termites often leave behind mud tubes along foundations or discarded wings near windows, while carpenter ants can create small piles of wood shavings as they tunnel through wood to create nests. Wood-boring beetles, on the other hand, leave tiny, round exit holes and fine, powdery dust called frass. If you notice any of these signs, it’s important to act quickly, as these pests can compromise the integrity of wooden structures within your home.

Panoptic Inspections can help you confirm which type of pest has entered your property and we can refer you to resources to put a stop to any further damage to your home or business.

Our Termite Inspection Process

1. Thorough Property Inspection

Our team will conduct a comprehensive examination of the entire property, including the interior, exterior, foundation, attic, and crawl spaces (if applicable).
We will confirm any signs of WDO (termite) activity, entry points, and potential vulnerabilities in the property. If required, we have the proper tools to detect signs of pest infiltration, which may include an awls, flashlight, mirror, magnifying glass, ensuring a thorough inspection and accurate confirmation of any pest activity in your home.

2. Pest Identification

Panoptic Inspections will  identify the type of pest(s) present, whether it’s termites, insects, or other pests. We will inform our customers on the extent of the infestation and any specific species involved.

3. Treatment Plan

Panoptic Inspections is not an expert in WDO treatment, however, we may provide resources to help guide you to the next steps in resolving any issues. Your treatment plan may have general information for eradication and prevention.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a WDO or termite inspection take?
The duration of a WDO inspection typically depends on the size of your property and the complexity of the inspection. On average, a standard inspection takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour, but larger or more complex properties may take longer.

Do I need to prepare my home before a termite inspection?
To ensure a thorough inspection, it’s helpful to clear access to areas like the attic, basement, and crawl spaces, and to remove any clutter that might obstruct the inspector. However, our team will guide you on any specific preparations needed before we arrive.
